Future-proofed bathroom our grandchildren love too
G's bathroom had served her family well while her children were growing up but it was long overdue an update. "I wanted an accessible shower room having had a hip replacement at the end of 2021 and I knew our dated bathroom with a huge cast iron bath had to go!", G says. G decided to use Fine & Able to help make sure it was ready for the next chapter.

For their new bathroom, G opted for a calm and neutral colour palette that makes the most of the view to the garden and the beautiful light.
Their Fine & Able design consultant worked with them to create a new bathroom perfectly in keeping with their period house. Slip-resistant wood effect floor tiles offer timeless appeal. Niches and lightly textured Codec tiles add interest without the need for bold colours that may date.

"It's working very well for us. Before the bath took forever to run and the hot water always ran out before it was full," says G.
By taking away the bath and using Fine & Able's Bliss bi-folding doors in a recessed configuration they have been able to create a spacious enclosure.
Bliss bi-fold doors can be used in multiple flexible configurations to section the room.
While they were doing the work they also took the opportunity to make other improvements and preparations. Adding underfloor hearing has helped keep their previously draughty bathroom warm and cosy and floors fresh and dry.
Clever features like the rimless toilet makes keeping the room clean and hygienic much easier.
The rimless pan of the Vesta toilet reduces places for germs and dirt to gather.
The walls have also been reinforced behind the tiles in key areas beside the toilet and in the shower area so grab rails can be fitted if necessary in the future. They plan to add a Fine & Able shower stool if and when they require too.
The change has made the room feel much larger. Not only is it wheelchair-accessible should they ever need, it's also great for when family come to visit.
